Lucknow, 31 July. Yogi government, which is engaged in the effort to strengthen medical education in the state, has got a big success. It is the result of the efforts of the Yogi government that the National Medical Commission, New Delhi has given the green signal to start MBBS studies in 7 new medical colleges of the state from this session (year 2024-25). Let us tell you that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had talked to Union Health Minister JP Nadda to give recognition to 13 new medical colleges of the state, after which the letter of permission has been issued to seven government medical colleges for the academic session 2024-25. At the same time, the remaining 6 medical colleges will appeal to the NMC again, if the department is to be believed, they will also get the letter of permission soon. Along with this, permission has also been received to increase the seats in other medical colleges of the state. These include medical colleges run on government, private and PPP model. After this, the Medical Education Department of the state has started preparing to conduct counseling on 10 thousand 500 MBBS seats in this academic session. Medical Education Department Director General Kinjal Singh said that Letter of Permission has been issued for the academic session 2024-25 in the autonomous state medical colleges of Bijnor, Bulandshahr, Kushinagar, Pilibhit, Sultanpur, Kanpur Dehat and Lalitpur. Counseling will be done on 600 MBBS seats in these seven medical colleges. Apart from this, 72 and 50 MBBS seats have been increased in the government medical colleges of Agra and Meerut respectively. After this, Agra Medical College has 200 and Meerut Medical College has 150 MBBS seats.
Seats increased in private and PPP mode medical colleges
According to DGME Kinjal Singh, medical colleges of Shamli, Maharajganj and Sambhal operating in PPP mode have also received Letter of Permission for the academic session 2024-25 for 150, 150 and 50 MBBS seats respectively. At the same time, Gorakshanath Medical College, Gorakhpur, established under the private sector, has been issued LOP for 50 MBBS seats for this academic session by the National Medical Commission. Similarly, GS Medical College, Hapur has received permission to increase 100 MBBS seats in this academic session. Now there are 250 seats here.
Counselling will be done on 10,500 seats
In the last academic session, a total of 3828 MBBS seats were available for counselling in government medical colleges. At the same time, there has been an increase of 722 seats in the academic session 2024-25. Now there are a total of 4550 MBBS seats in government medical colleges in the state. Apart from this, there were 5450 seats in the private sector till now. There has been an increase of 150 seats in this. Now there are 5600 MBBS seats in private medical colleges. At the same time, 350 seats are available for counselling in 3 new medical colleges operating on PPP mode. At present, counselling will be conducted for 10,500 seats in government, private and PPP mode medical colleges in the state. The Director General said that an appeal will be filed again in the National Medical Commission to conduct the academic session in the remaining government medical colleges.
